From the depths of suffering, I awaken to compassion.

From the illusions of separation, I return to unity.

From the weight of violence, I choose nonviolence—in thought, word, and action.

Though suffering is vast, I vow to meet it with presence.

Though harm is woven into the world, I vow to unweave it.

Though my own mind wavers, I vow to walk the path of peace.

I will not turn away from the suffering of any being.

I will not place my comfort above another’s pain.

I will not seek refuge in ignorance when wisdom calls me to act.

Where there is cruelty, may I bring kindness.

Where there is division, may I bring understanding.

Where there is despair, may I bring the light of connection.

For as long as suffering exists, I will not cease in my vow.

For as long as I draw breath, I will hold to this path.

For all beings, for all time—may there be peace.

I take this vow not in pursuit of perfection, but as a commitment to the path, knowing that each step is the beginning.

Disclaimer

Ahimsa Dharma is not a form of mental health counseling or psychotherapy. It is a practice for wellness, spiritual exploration, and personal growth. While Robert G. Schneider is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in private practice, his role within Ahimsa Dharma is that of a teacher, offering insights and practices rooted in mindfulness, nonviolence, and self-awareness.

If you are experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, or psychiatric concerns, it is important to seek care from a licensed mental health professional. Ahimsa Dharma is not a substitute for therapy, psychiatric treatment, or medical care. The separation between Ahimsa Dharma and Robert’s psychotherapy practice ensures clarity of purpose and appropriate support for both spiritual and therapeutic paths.
